Test Development Engineer – Mechanical
We are looking for a Test Development Engineer – Mechanical to design and deliver innovative test fixtures, automated test equipment (ATE), and mechanical interfaces supporting the manufacturing test of electronic printed circuit boards, sub assemblies, and finished products. This hands‑on role combines mechanical design, automation, supplier coordination, testing, and validation. You will play a key role in improving product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency while advancing new technologies and reducing operator dependency in test processes.
Whatyou’ll do
- Design, integrate, validate, and commission mechanical test fixtures and interfaces for PCBAs, sub assemblies, and finished products.
- Ensure test equipment complies with Eaton MESH (Health, Safety & Environment) standards and is safe and ergonomic to use.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate fixture strength, durability, and performance.
- Support or lead the development of local suppliers in the Middle East for fixture fabrication and automation solutions.
- Develop innovative mechanical and automation concepts to improve repeatability and reduce manual intervention in testing.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, calculations, reports, and validation records.
- Develop and support Verification & Validation (V&V) activities, including fixture qualification and strain gauge testing.
- Collaborate closely with Test Development, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to solve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience designing and manufacturing mechanical or automation jigs, fixtures, or test equipment.
- Strong hands‑on experience with CAD tools such as Solid Works or AutoCAD.
- Practical experience with FEA and strain measurement techniques.
- Solid understanding of engineering calculations for design verification.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PCB layouts.
- Experience with Siemens NX, Creo, or Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of DFMA, Lean, 5S, and DFSS methodologies.
- Familiarity with fabrication methods (sheet metal, plastics, machined parts).
- Exposure to automation, robotics, or AI‑enabled engineering tools.
- Experience with PLM systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross‑functional, multicultural teams.
