Role Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with hands‑on experience in flow metering systems to support the design, engineering and execution of custody transfer metering skid packages for oil and gas applications. The candidate will be responsible for complete mechanical design, coordination with instrumentation and process teams and ensuring compliance with client and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design

  • Perform detailed mechanical design of flow metering skids for gas and liquid applications.
  • Prepare general arrangement drawings, skid layouts and equipment arrangements.
  • Prepare piping layouts and isometrics.
  • Support structure and skid base design.
  • Size and select piping systems (ASME B31.3), isolation valves (ball, gate, DBB), control valves (pressure and flow control where applicable), strainers, filters and ancillary equipment.
  • Calculate pressure drop.
  • Ensure proper layout of flow meters (ultrasonic, turbine, Coriolis) with required straight lengths and flow conditioning.

Package Engineering

  • Develop complete skid design including structural frame, lifting and transportation considerations, access platforms and maintenance clearance, valve accessibility and maintainability, proper arrangement of control valves upstream/downstream of meters, integration of pressure reduction and control systems.
  • Coordinate with instrumentation team for control valve sizing and actuator selection and with process team for control philosophy and operating scenarios.
  • Integrate sampling systems (fast loop, static mixers) and proving systems (compact prover, master meter).

Standards and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with API MPMS, AGA, ISO standards, ASME codes (B31.3, Section VIII where applicable).
  • Support preparation of design calculations, technical datasheets, material specifications.

Vendor Procurement Support

  • Review vendor drawings and documents.
  • Provide technical evaluation of skid components and fabrication proposals.
  • Support procurement team with technical clarifications.

Fabrication and Testing Support

  • Provide engineering support during skid fabrication, assembly and integration.
  • Participate in FAT and IFAT activities.
  • Resolve site fabrication‑related engineering issues.

Documentation

  • Prepare and review mechanical design reports, calculation notes and method statements.
  • Ensure full documentation compliance with project requirements.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience:

5–10 years in the oil & gas industry, with a minimum of 3 years in flow metering or process package design (mandatory).
Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

  • Flow metering systems and/or process packages.
  • Piping design and layout.
  • Skid design and modularization.
  • Isolation valves (ball, gate, DBB) selection and specification.
  • Control valves and pressure regulation systems.

Familiar with:

  • Ultrasonic, turbine, Coriolis meters.
  • Sampling systems and proving systems.
  • Valve standards (API 6D, API 598, IEC control valve standards).
  • Pressure reducing stations and slam shut systems (advantage).
Experience
  • Middle East project requirements (highly preferred).
Software Skills
  • AutoCAD (mandatory).
  • 3D modeling tools (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor, PDMS) – preferred.
  • Basic understanding of process simulation is an advantage.
Soft Skills
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under project deadlines.
  • Practical, problem‑solving mindset (not purely theoretical).
Preferred Candidate Profile
  • Experience working with EPC contractors or system integrators.
  • Familiar with custody transfer systems and/or process packages.
  • Hands‑on exposure to skid fabrication and FAT.
