Technical Repairs & Maintenance
Diagnose and repair ship engines, propulsion systems, boilers, pumps and electrical systems.
Structural Mechanical WorkPerform hull repairs, welding, piping and outfitting.
Project ManagementPlan and schedule dry-docking and repair projects, manage budgets and ensure timely completion.
Inspection & TestingSurvey vessels to detect defects, analyze damage and conduct operational tests.
CoordinationLiaison with ship owners, crews, subcontractors and vendors.
Compliance & SafetyMaintain Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards in the shipyard.
Education & ExperienceA degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Typically 5+ years of experience in ship repair, with specific knowledge of propulsion systems or thrusters.
Technical KnowledgeUnderstanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, marine electrical systems, and blueprint interpretation.
Soft SkillsLeadership, problem-solving, communication, and proficiency in English.
Typical Working EnvironmentShip repair engineers work both in shipyards (docks) and on board vessels in port. The role requires managing teams of technicians, such as welders and electricians, in a fast-paced environment.
