Responsibilities
- Conduct engineering studies related to the Structural field when required and provide clear, well‑supported recommendations based on the results of the performed studies.
- Prepare a clear and understandable Structural scope of work for transmission projects in line with the issued Project Parameter Report to ensure coverage of DEWA’s requirements in new tenders and to avoid ambiguity or misunderstanding in the scope of work by bidders.
- Review amendments for technical aspects and reply to technical queries raised by bidders during the tendering stage.
- Review technical offers, including deviations submitted by bidders, highlight and resolve technical clarifications during the tendering process.
- Review the technical recommendation report.
- Review and comment on design drawings, documents, materials, BIM model and vendors submitted by contractors or consultants to ensure quality compliance with DEWA’s specification, qualification methodology and scope of works.
- Finalize non‑compliance notes on submittals.
- Review civil vendor qualifications and assist with vendor performance feedback during project execution.
- Coordinate with internal and external authorities to assure compliance with DEWA specifications in substation and cable‑laying projects.
- Coordinate and participate in various technical design and progress meetings to resolve raised technical problems and ensure smooth project execution.
- Liaise with DEWA user departments to offer solutions on technical issues raised to ensure compliance with DEWA’s requirements.
- Assist in raising change requests on the existing technical specification for future turnkey projects regarding optimization, agreed deviations, standardization efforts, actual market conditions, and lessons learned from past projects.
- Assist in materials conformity and approvals inline with the approved qualification methodology and ensure quality and compliance of the product with DEWA’s specification and international standards.
- Investigate and address issues reported through the site quality feedback mechanism.
- Conduct site visits and site quality audits as required to verify that the executed work aligns with DEWA approvals and to obtain feedback for future projects.
- Attend site investigations with concerned departments for failed equipment as required.
- Continuously innovate and fulfill requirements for driving corporate excellence.
- Facilitate the transfer and sharing of knowledge with colleagues and subordinates.
- Ensure non‑disclosure of confidential information to anyone within or outside the Authority during or after employment in DEWA.
- Follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per DEWA’s safety standard.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the reporting manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of experience for a Bachelor’s holder & Minimum 7 years of experience for a Diploma holder in Structural scope of work for transmission projects.
- Problem‑solving skills to propose technical solutions.
- Knowledge of International Standards (IEEE, IEC, BS).
- Proficiency in technical report writing.
- Preferred related experience in engineering design software (e.g., BIM, Revit).
