Responsibilities
Review and interpret piping isometric drawings, P amp IDs, GA drawings, specifications and construction work packs. Plan, coordinate and supervise piping fabrication activities in accordance with project requirements and schedules. Ensure fabrication activities comply with applicable codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, API, ASTM and client specifications. Prepare and review fabrication work packages, material take‑offs (MTO) and bills of materials (BOM).
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, Planning and Construction teams to ensure smooth project execution. Supervise pipe cutting, fit‑up, welding, spool fabrication, assembly and dimensional inspection activities. Monitor fabrication progress and ensure timely completion of fabrication deliverables in line with project milestones. Ensure proper material identification, traceability, storage, preservation and handling throughout fabrication activities. Review and resolve fabrication‑related technical queries and construction issues.
Ensure all welding activities are performed in accordance with approved WPS, PQR and qualified welder requirements. Coordinate and monitor NDT, PWHT, hydrotesting and other inspection activities as per project specifications. Monitor weld quality, repair rates, productivity and implement corrective actions where necessary. Verify fabrication works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, procedures and quality requirements. Coordinate spool release, hydrotest package preparation, mechanical completion and handover activities.
Identify potential fabrication constraints and implement mitigation measures to avoid schedule delays. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly fabrication progress reports and productivity reports. Participate in project meetings and provide technical support and fabrication status updates. Conduct toolbox talks and promote a strong safety culture within fabrication teams. Support site construction activities by coordinating fabricated spool deliveries and installation requirements. Ensure compliance with project quality plans, inspection test plans (ITP) and client requirements.
Assist in cost control initiatives by minimizing material wastage, weld repairs and fabrication rework.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 13 16 years of experience in piping fabrication within Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, LNG, or EPC projects. Strong knowledge of piping fabrication, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, material control, and international codes and standards. Proficient in reading engineering drawings, isometrics, and fabrication documents. Good communication, leadership, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
