- To perform surveys for construction, property/boundary, topographic, right-of-way, transportation and control survey projects, and takes direction in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
- Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
- Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
- Setting up and operating surveying equipment, including electronic total-stations, digital survey levels, electronic data collectors, and GNSS receivers, in order to measure positions, distances, elevations, and angles.
- Gathering field survey data through the use of conventional (TPS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) survey equipment and methods.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain at survey sites.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, all data, charts, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
- Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
- Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation.
- Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments.
- Perform research, calculations and supervise computer drafting and survey crews.
- Checking completed work for conformance to the line and grade required by the project plans in coordination with the inspector assigned to that item of work.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Engineer.
- Diploma/Bachelors in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in surveying or a similar role.
- Proficient in 3D-Laser Scan-to-BIM technology.
