Job Description
Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing service and site assistance on John Crane Turbo machinery products supporting compressor manufacturers and end‑user customers. As part of the Global Turbo machinery team the incumbent will support the company’s drive to expand our portfolio of services and products in the Turbo machinery market in accordance with corporate objectives, strategy, and plans.
Responsibilities- Onsite dry gas seal removal, strip, inspection, rebuild, and installation into turbo compressors.
- Identify and assist customers with upgrades of all turbo machinery products.
- Understand and report upon the commercial opportunities of each customer site visited through site surveys, the commercial opportunity sheet, and customer interaction.
- Provide training to customers on gas seal and system‑related subjects.
- Troubleshoot all turbo machinery products.
- Travel extensively, sometimes to remote areas both onshore and offshore, including outside the region if required.
- Execute or supervise mechanical works at customer sites, mainly on turbo machinery equipment.
- Create a comprehensive customer report outlining all site activities, including observations, recommendations, and actions. Handover certificate and complete check sheets are mandatory.
- Perform mechanical duties involved with disassembly, inspection, maintenance repair, modification, and reassembly for turbo compressors and related equipment with the highest quality standards as per OEM.
- Carry out assembly preparation for upcoming service assignments: identify spare parts requirements for maintenance activities, special tools, checking commissioned spare parts for completeness, allocation, and correctness.
- Determine assembly procedures on site in accordance with the specified work documents. Be a technical contact person within the group for employees with lower qualification and coach service technicians to carry out planning, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Work on and offshore.
- Have working knowledge of JC Turbo machinery products couplings, systems, and filtration.
- Proven capability of training and mentoring new and existing engineers.
- Define, create, and implement a technical and/or business report.
- Travel globally.
- Extensive, proven, and traceable gas seal field service installation experience.
- Operational gas seal inspection and build hands‑on experience.
- Capable of reading general assembly drawings.
- Full driving license and capable of driving overseas.
- Confident and able to deal with very challenging situations in a calm and credible manner.
- Experience with endoscopic inspections and techniques.
- Practical experience with laser alignment is a plus.
- Carry out alignment by using dial gauge indicators.
- 5+ years of related experience in the field of centrifugal compressors.
