Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil Micro tunnelling
Overview
The Assistant Resident Engineer will be involved in projects associated with stormwater & drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks and water distribution networks. This will involve undertaking investigations, pipelines, valves, rising main construction supervision & monitoring of design and infrastructure work. The role will be based in Dubai.
Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Delivery
- Assist the Resident Engineer in administering the operational functions of the day-to-day activities on the project with respect to construction works.
- Interact with contractors, sub‑contractors, laboratories and monitoring construction work on a daily basis.
- Coordinate with various government departments, contractors, consultants and the public to facilitate progress and avoid delays.
- Coordinate his direct activities with the other engineers and members of the construction supervision team.
- Maintain logs of project progress, hand‑over and final accounts.
- Arrange progress meetings for various government/interface authorities representatives, minute them and distribute the records as required.
- Chair meetings with the government/interface agencies and any other meetings delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals, method statements and other activities including correspondence related to the project work and prepare replies for the Resident Engineer’s review.
- Demonstrate ability to prepare instructions, specifications, reports and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with the contractor engineers on scheduling and application of resources.
- Direct, assist and monitor the performance of inspectors and surveyors as applicable.
- Review and approve design documents, construction plans and procedures.
- Prepare/assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Keep necessary records and as‑built records and take charge of the handing over of the project to the respective service authorities and assist the contractor to obtain necessary final clearance.
- Identify non‑conforming works, generate reports and corrective actions, and coordinate responses.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Client Service Management
- Internal and external client DM infrastructure liaison.
- Build and maintain lasting and positive relationships.
- Experience in utility diversions and management.
Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures. Design for safety, i.e., construction design management.
Other duties as requested from time to time by the Resident Engineer.
QualificationsThe successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with fifteen (15) years of experience in pipeline pumping station, infrastructure projects.
Experience in DM infrastructure projects is an advantage.
