Chief Operating Officer; Crypto

Overview: A leading global financial services group is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) | Crypto Exchange, to oversee and optimize the operations of its crypto exchange platform. This role requires a dynamic leader with deep expertise in crypto trading, blockchain technology, financial regulations, and high-frequency trading operations. The COO will drive operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and enhance user experience while scaling the exchange’s market presence.

• Develop and execute the exchange’s operational strategy to enhance scalability and market expansion.
• Lead the development of new products and trading features to maintain a competitive edge.
• Identify and drive partnerships with liquidity providers, market makers, and institutional investors.
• Collaborate with the executive team to shape long-term business objectives and growth strategies.

• Oversee the daily operations of the crypto exchange, ensuring seamless trading execution, risk management, and platform stability.
• Optimize internal processes to enhance efficiency, security, and user experience.
• Develop and enforce policies to maintain high operational and security standards.
• Coordinate with product, tech, and compliance teams to implement robust trading infrastructure and workflow automation.

• Ensure full compliance with global and local financial regulations, AML/KYC requirements, and risk management protocols.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and legal teams.
• Implement fraud detection, security protocols, and operational risk frameworks to safeguard the platform.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and lead the adaptation of internal policies accordingly.

• Work closely with the CTO and tech team to ensure the platform's uptime, reliability, and cybersecurity.
• Oversee the implementation of cutting-edge blockchain and trading technologies to enhance performance.
• Monitor and improve exchange liquidity, order book depth, and market-making strategies.

• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational success.
• Drive profitability by optimizing trading fees, transaction costs, and operational expenses.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and revenue stream diversification for the exchange.

• Experience:
  
  Minimum 10+ years in financial services, fintech, or crypto exchanges, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (COO, Head of Operations, or equivalent).
• Industry Expertise:
  Deep understanding of crypto trading, blockchain ecosystems, high-frequency trading, and digital asset regulations.
• Regulatory Knowledge:
  Strong grasp of AML, KYC, FATF, SEC, and other international crypto compliance frameworks.
• Technology Acumen:
  Hands-on experience working with trading engines, liquidity providers, APIs, and security protocols in crypto exchanges.
• Operational Leadership:
  Proven ability to scale operations, optimize workflows, and lead cross-functional teams.
• Risk & Security:
  Experience in managing exchange security, cybersecurity threats, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Strategic Thinking:
  Ability to drive business growth, enter new markets, and navigate regulatory landscapes.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Technology, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
• Global Exposure:
  Experience working in international financial markets is highly preferred.
