Overview
UBL UAE is looking to hire Senior Relationship Manager (SRM) / Unit Head – Financial Institutions (Africa Coverage) to lead and manage the Financial Institutions (FI) portfolio for Africa, focusing on relationship management, business development, balance sheet growth, and risk management. The role is responsible for expanding correspondent banking relationships, driving revenues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and credit policies.
Responsibilities- Manage and grow relationships with African banks and financial institutions, including correspondent banks, DFIs, and non-bank FIs.
- Identify and acquire new FI relationships to expand the Africa portfolio.
- Drive deposit mobilization, trade finance, treasury, and cross-border transaction banking business.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned FI clients.
- Achieve assigned business, revenue, and balance sheet targets.
- Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, and utilization.
- Structure and negotiate FI-related transactions including trade finance, placements, guarantees, and credit facilities.
- Prepare and present credit proposals, reviews, and renewals in line with internal credit policies.
- Monitor country, counter party, and transaction risks related to African markets.
- Ensure compliance with AML, sanctions, KYC, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with Trade Finance, Treasury, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Credit teams to deliver seamless service.
- Liaise with correspondent banks and internal stakeholders for transaction execution and issue resolution.
- Lead and mentor team members handling FI relationships.
- Set unit objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.
- Contribute to strategic planning for Africa FI business.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, or Business Administration (MBA preferred).
- 8–12+ years of experience in Financial Institutions / Correspondent Banking, with strong Africa market exposure.
- Proven track record in FI relationship management and business development.
- Strong understanding of trade finance, treasury products, and cross-border banking.
- Strong relationship and negotiation skills
- In-depth knowledge of African banking markets
- Credit analysis and risk assessment expertise
- Strategic thinking and leadership capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
