Senior Subject Matter Expert-Finance

Overview

The purpose of this role is to work with operational leaders within the corporation to align financial expertise with strategic decision-making. This role will support with enhancing relationships between finance and clinical and non clinical teams in financial performance management, use of resources, cost improvement development, financial planning and education. The SSME is responsible for identifying opportunities for cost optimization, communicating financial information effectively and acting as a trusted advisor.

The post holder will require a deep understanding of financial principles of the corporation, possess strong analytical skills, and be able to influence decision-making.

• Act as the main point of contact for budget holders regarding any finance-related inquiries and escalate issues to management as necessary.
• Collaborate closely with clinical and operational managers to ensure expenditure is aligned with departmental priorities and within approved budgets.
• Review purchase request to ensure correct coding, budget alignment, proper approvals and adherence to HMC policies.
• Support budget holders in the preparation of business cases and provide assistance during the annual budgeting cycle.
• Consult budget holders plans and budget submissions to understand the overall plan, providing advice and new initiatives to save costs.
• Integrate into operations for a deeper understanding of departmental functions and, consequently, identify cost drivers to provide more effective advice.
• Work closely with department heads to identify cost drivers and implement cost-saving measures.
• Guide the budget holders in understanding the impact of their spend results and forecasts against budgets to manage their budgets more effectively.
• Deliver clear and insightful financial reports and analyses to stakeholders, identifying risks and providing actionable recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies and procedures.
• Act as subject matter expert focal point to business leaders in matters related to financial planning.
• Identify areas where a technical solution would improve or enhance business performance.
• Preform other duties as assigned

Job Location:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Plus

Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)

OR

One of the below certifications:

• ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
• CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
• AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians)
• CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
• ICA (Institute of Chartered Accountants)

8 years’ experience in Finance or Accounting out of which 3 years in financial planning and/or budgeting

Note: Candidates must be bilingual in Arabic and English.
