This position reports to the EMEA Indirect Tax & ME Tax Strategy Manager and has the main responsibility to supervise all Eaton tax related activities and flows in accordance with the Middle‑East countries covering 6 countries with +12 VAT&CIT registrations and also to control the wide risks pertaining to tax governance and accounting/reporting.
What You’ll Do- Coordinate periodic tax (VAT & CIT) reporting for Eaton businesses in the region, with support of Eaton Operations and COE, to ensure timely preparation and submission of all tax returns, and tax payments in line with Eaton Tax Controls Framework.
- Research, monitor and analyze direct and indirect tax legislation and regulations, and changes in Eaton businesses, and assess and report impact(s) on those changes.
- Conduct tax risk assessment in line with Eaton VAT Controls Framework, and report on monthly basis new findings and actions taken to mitigate risks pertaining to tax accounting and reporting.
- Review VAT calculations –prepared by a separate team–, backed‑up with due documentation, and be able to submit VAT refund claims for Eaton entities and Eaton VAT registrations (where and when in VAT refundable positions) in Middle‑East countries.
- Coordinate, manage, build technical tax (VAT and CIT) arguments to ensure timely response to queries from tax authorities, including tax audits and VAT refund claims, voluntary tax disclosures. Communicate with Tax Authorities until audits and VAT refunds are closed.
- Help design, define, implement and test tax aspects in various projects, being part of a project team or by providing active support to Eaton Project Manager(s) and other business functions.
- Communicate and correspond with Eaton Operations and maintain excellent relationships with them.
- Support in conducting tax training sessions with various stakeholders as and when required.
- Assist in developing and implementing tax strategy, policies and procedures for VAT accounting, compliance, and audits.
- Provide tax advice/support on various service lines / business projects.
- Cooperate with global tax teams to align on the tax strategy and business model.
- Support ERP system projects in the region related to indirect taxes and other tax technology related topics such as implementation of e‑invoicing/e‑reporting.
- Advise businesses on tax matters in case of acquisitions and divestitures. Supervise the implementation of processes and policies on the integration of newly acquired businesses within the region.
- Responsible for and supervising the implementation of VAT in countries within the region which are adopting a VAT system, including but not limited to: assessing business impacts, understanding IT systems and business processes that are affected by VAT, partnering with IT teams in their implementation and testings, with the goal maximizing the review of VAT processes from an ERP point of view and from a reporting/submitting point of view.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance/Tax, professional accounting or tax qualification is considered a great asset.
- 5+ years of progressive Indirect Tax (Value Added Tax) experience in Middle‑East (especially in GCC region) acquired in a multinational company, Big 4 experience is a big plus
- Excellent technical and practical knowledge about VAT in Middle‑East countries
- Being a Tax Agent in UAE is desirable.
- Practical knowledge about CIT in Middle‑East countries is desirable.
