JOB PURPOSE:

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Finance function, ensuring robust financial management, regulatory compliance, and effective financial service delivery across the hospital and its network of clinics.

The role oversees corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, and financial governance to support cost-effective, high-quality healthcare operations and strategic decision-making.

KEY

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The Financial Controller oversees financial operations and ensures strong financial governance across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory, Cash Management, and Revenue Recognition
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the hospital and clinic network
  • Lead annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning processes; monitor variances and provide actionable insights
  • Partner with the Director of Finance to implement cost control initiatives and monitor financial performance across locations
  • Review service line and departmental profitability; provide financial analysis and decision support to senior management
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital; oversee receivables management to ensure optimal liquidity
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously improve internal controls, segregation of duties, DOA compliance, and finance SOPs
  • Ensure robust billing, cash handling, refund, and adjustment controls within the HIS environment
  • Support capital planning and financial feasibility assessments for expansions, upgrades, and major equipment investments
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Lead internal and external audits, including year-end statutory reporting, and ensure timely closure of audit findings
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team
  • Perform other duties commensurate with the role
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Commerce
  • Professional certification required: CA / CPA / ACCA / CIMA / CMA
  • 8-10 years of progressive finance experience preferably in well established and busy Healthcare setup
  • Minimum 5 years in a Controller or Senior Finance Leadership role
  • Healthcare sector experience - Hospital, clinic network, diagnostics are essential
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Extensive experience in internal controls and SOP development
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets in a healthcare environment
  • Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycles and cost containment strategies
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • High integrity and attention to detail
