The Finance Specialist is a versatile, mid-level role responsible for (1) high-quality financial analysis and management reporting, (2) ownership of the internal-controls framework—including process mapping and continuous control improvement—and (3) seamless backup coverage for the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Revenue Accounting functions. The position is pivotal to an accurate, fast, and well-controlled monthly close and provides critical insight to management for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction. Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial reports and statements;
- Accounting Operations: Perform daily accounting tasks, including journal entries, expense tracking, and account reconciliations;
- Cash Management: Monitor daily cash flow, manage bank deposits, and handle outstanding payments;
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, verify bills, and manage client collections;
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to Company audit and MCS procedures, federal and state financial regulations;
- Budgeting: Assist management in developing budgets and forecasting future financial needs.
- Facilitate end-to-end process reviews with process owners (AP, AR, Revenue, GL).
- Identify efficiency gaps; build Lean/Six-Sigma style improvement plans.
- Monitor benefit realization metrics (cycle time, error rate, cost per transaction).
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial analysis prefererably at least 3 years;
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups). - Analytical
Skills:
Strong ability to analyze complex data and identify trends. - Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
