The MRD Assistant assembles patients’ health information, makes sure that patients’ initial medical charts are complete, all forms are completed and properly identified and signed, and that all necessary information is saved in the system.
Responsibilities- Maintains patient chart folders and retrieves medical records upon request from clinical and non‑clinical requestors.
- Receives medical records and arranges and files them in the appropriate location.
- Assembles and processes records as per recommended procedures.
- Identifies errors in the master patient index (MPI) and initiates corrective measures according to established procedures.
- Keeps health care providers informed by communicating availability or unavailability of the record.
- Keeps the head of department informed of problems or issues, monitors supplies needed, and performs other duties as assigned.
- Is capable of working in all units of medical records and of carrying out the work of that unit as per recommended procedures.
- Prepares files for the scanning process.
- Understands and follows the department’s organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and prevents disclosure to unauthorized persons.
- Releases information to the patient or authorized persons as per requests.
- Performs periodic inspections of materials or files to ensure correct placement, legibility, and proper condition.
- Exercises good judgment and maintains confidentiality in handling critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
- Any Diploma or High School Certificate.
- Minimum 1–2 years in a similar organization.
