Head Of XR & BCI Lab- Innovations

The job holder is responsible for driving innovation and excellence in the development and application of extended reality (XR) technologies in healthcare. The role aims to harness cutting‑edge XR solutions to improve medical education, enhance patient care, brain computer science and advance therapeutic practices. By combining leadership, strategic planning, and technical expertise. The job holder will establish the lab as a regional leader in healthcare-focused XR research, while fostering collaboration with academic institutions, industry leaders, and clinical stakeholders to deliver impactful, ethical, and scalable solutions.

• Define the long-term vision, goals, and strategy for the XR lab, aligning with the healthcare innovation center’s mission.
• Identify emerging trends in XR (AR, VR, MR) technologies and their applications in healthcare, prioritizing high-impact research areas such as surgical simulations, therapeutic tools, and patient education.

• Lead the identification and development of innovative XR‑based healthcare solutions, including diagnostic tools, rehabilitation platforms, and immersive training programs.
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle for XR technologies, from concept development to prototype creation, clinical validation, and market deployment.
• Recruit and manage a multidisciplinary team of XR developers, researchers, designers, and healthcare experts to ensure project success.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure XR applications meet clinical standards and address real-world challenges effectively.
• Publish research findings, patents, and whitepapers to establish the lab as a thought leader in XR healthcare innovation.
• Develop frameworks to evaluate the clinical, technical, and financial viability of XR healthcare solutions.
• Foster partnerships with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and industry leaders to advance XR research and deployment.
• Design initiatives to attract startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators to collaborate with the XR lab, creating a dynamic ecosystem.
• Secure funding from public and private sources, including grants, venture capital, and research collaborations.
• Develop and promote ethical guidelines for XR applications in healthcare, focusing on patient safety, data privacy, and accessibility.

• Set clear annual performance goals in consultation with the reporting manager and ensure timely reviews and adjustments.
• Stay updated with advancements in XR technologies, healthcare trends, and research methodologies through continued education and networking.
• Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration within the lab, encouraging the team to take ownership of their growth and development.
• Demonstrate adaptability and resilience in managing multiple projects and shifting priorities.

Minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Computer/software Engineering, Virtual/Augmented Reality, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Media or graphic Design or a related field.

• A minimum of 10-year experience: mix of professional and academic.
• At least 10 years of combined academic and professional experience in XR technologies, healthcare innovation, or related domains.
• A strong portfolio of XR research or projects demonstrating expertise in applying XR to healthcare, including published papers, prototypes, or commercialized products.
• Proven ability to secure and manage research funding, including experience in grant writing and fostering industry partnerships.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders such as clinicians, researchers, and developers.
