Provide optimal and ethical patient and family-centred care in adult, child and adolescent psychological services in an integrated medical setting. Conduct clinical and neuropsychological assessments of children and adolescents, and their families, within a multidisciplinary team. Train and supervise activities relevant to Neuropsychological practice within the hospital. Contribute to community-based initiatives with an emphasis on mental health awareness and prevention approaches.
Liaise with internal and external referral sources (and schools) regarding patient care and management.
- Communicate with patients to obtain detailed case histories.
- Undertake protocol-based assessments (questionnaires, rating scales, observations, semi-structured interviews).
- Conduct neuropsychological batteries (intelligence, academic ability, attention, concentration, sensory-motor, language, learning, memory).
- Review/assess suitability of psychometric tools used in the center.
- Establish neurobehavioral baselines to monitor disease progression or recovery.
- Compare progress pre- and post-pharmacologic, surgical, or behavioral interventions.
- Prepare comprehensive clinical neuropsychological reports integrating test data and observations.
- Contribute to formulation and delivery of care plans for children/families.
- Provide psychotherapy/counseling for patients with neurological disorders.
- Design and implement cognitive rehabilitation plans.
- Provide regular follow-up to track progress and adjust treatment plans.
- Run/coordinate therapeutic groups relevant to neuropsychology.
- Assess/treat pediatric learning disabilities (developmental/organic bases).
- Assess/treat CNS injury and disease (stroke, tumors, infections/inflammation, degenerative, TBI, demyelinating disease, dementias).
- Assess/treat psychiatric conditions (somatoform disorders, dementias, psychoses).
- Identify/communicate risks related to neurological surgeries (e.g., epilepsy surgery).
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Advise care, education, and other staff on implementing psychometric tools.
- Provide education/counseling to individuals and families.
- Maintain professional documentation and case records; protect confidentiality.
- Provide culturally competent, patient- and family-centered, evidence-based services.
- Recognize limits of expertise; seek supervision/consultation when needed.
- Work across Outpatient, Pediatric Developmental Disorders, and inpatient facilities in collaboration with clinical teams
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Bachelor degree in the field of psychology and Postgraduate Doctoral degree (example: Ph.D., Psy.
D., Ed.D.,
D.Clin.
Psy) from an approved psychology faculty or an educational faculty with focus on Psychology. OR - Bachelor degree in the field of psychology and Postgraduate full time Master’s degree (includes MSc, MA, M.Phil) of minimum two (2) years from a psychology faculty or an educational faculty with focus on psychology provided that the bachelor degree is minimum four (4) years duration.
- Not less than 3 years as a Clinical Psychologist in a large hospital with relevant experience with patients with same diagnosis seen in acute care hospital or rehab facilities
- Required: - Wide background is preferred (i.e ICU, acute medical/surgical) with 1 year of demontsrated leadership
