Position: HR Generalist (12 Months Contract), DBS UAE )

Job Purpose

  • The Human Resources Generalist supports employees and leaders by delivering operational HR solutions. This role will serve as the backbone of the HR operational functions – handling the day-to-day execution across multiple HR disciplines rather than specializing in one area. To ensure HR processes run smoothly and employees and managers have a reliable point of contact for a broad range of HR needs.

    The role partners closely with the Head of Human Resources to align people strategies with business objectives while ensuring compliant and effective execution of HR projects & programs.
Key Accountabilities
  • The Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day HR operations of DBS Bank's UAE operations. This position partners closely with business leaders and the Head of Human Resources to deliver high-quality HR services across the employee lifecycle. The incumbent will have a strong foundation in DIFC / UAE Employment Law, thrives in fast-paced, cross-cultural environment, and is energized building HR programs that reflect both global DBS values and local requirements.
Job Responsibilities Talent Acquisition;
Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruiting for assigned roles, including job postings, screening, scheduling and offer processing.
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding, orientation, due diligence and verification process.
  • Process employee separations, coordinate final pay, and conduct exit interviews.
  • Ensure timely system updates and communication to relevant stakeholders.
Learning & Development
  • Coordinate employee learning & development initiatives, including need assessments, training program logistics and tracking completion in partnership with DBS Group L&D.
  • Identify and source external training resources, professional development opportunities, and certification support aligned with individual development plans and DBS competency frameworks.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as first point of contact for employee queries, concerns and policy interpretation.
  • Support Head of HR in managing performance issues, PIPs, and disciplinary actions.
Benefits & Compensation Administration
  • Administer employee insurance benefits enrolments, changes and terminations.
  • Serve as Payroll Administrator, answering payroll queries, ensuring accurate records, benefits administration and system data integrity.
  • Support compensation benchmarking salary review and bonus calculation processes in alignment with DBS Group compensation frameworks.
Compliance, HRIS & Reporting
  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy including employee records, org structure updates, job changes, and termination records. Act as SME for system navigation & improvement.
  • Support internal / external audit;
    Business Continuity Plan;
    Compliance testing and any other ad hoc risk requirements
  • Third party risk management & Procurement Services support for HR contracts.
  • Headcount / recruitment tracker and all reporting
Performance Management
  • Administer annual performance management cycles including goal setting, mid-year check-ins, and year-end reviews within Workday.
  • Assist with SMART goal development and coaching managers on effective performance conversations.
HR Projects & Initiatives
  • Work on new branch set up initiatives;
    Support HR programs such as engagement surveys, training rollouts and policy updates.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and employee-facing resources.
  • All other adhoc duties, as assigned.
Experience
  • At least 6-8 years of HR Generalist experience
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (ADP, Workday, or similar).
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organization skills & attention to detail.
  • Proven experience working in an HR department.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional HR training or experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Workday is a plus.
  • CIPD certification preferred.
