The Senior Network & Security Engineer will lead complex telecom‑grade network and security assessments, designs, and migrations across multi‑vendor environments. This role is mission‑critical for executing large‑scale firewall and VPN transitions—especially on Palo Alto—while ensuring stability, security, and compliance across carrier‑grade infrastructures.
DetailedJob Description
This position requires deep hands‑on expertise across routing, switching, MPLS, VPN, and firewall domains, with a strong emphasis on Palo Alto Virtual Routers, IPSEC tunnels, and telecom network architectures. You will conduct extensive data discovery across Cisco, Juniper, and Forti Gate devices to map dependencies, design secure migration architectures, and lead execution within strict change windows. The role combines architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and post‑migration stabilization in high‑pressure, SLA‑driven telecom environments.
You will also prepare HLD/LLD documents, runbooks, rollback plans, and collaborate with NOC/SOC teams, vendors, ISPs, and enterprise IT stakeholders.
- Perform end‑to‑end telecom network & security architecture assessments across core, aggregation, edge, and customer environments.
- Conduct detailed “as‑is” analysis of routing, switching, firewall rules, NAT, VPN, and service interconnections.
- Execute technical data discovery on Cisco, Juniper, Forti Gate platforms.
- Map IP addressing schemes, dependencies, application flows, ports, protocols, and customer‑to-core connectivity.
- Design Palo Alto VRs, NAT policies, security rules, routing, and IPSEC architecture.
- Build and migrate IPSEC VPNs for corporate, retail, call center, and inter‑operator environments.
- Support Payment Gateway and perimeter security ecosystems.
- Prepare HLDs, LLDs, MOPs, migration runbooks, fallback procedures, and risk assessments.
- Lead firewall, VPN, and routing migrations across Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper, and Forti Gate.
- Drive cutover activities within scheduled change windows.
- Coordinate with Telecom NOC/SOC, enterprise IT, vendors, ISPs, and external partners.
- Perform post‑migration validation, optimization, KPI checks, and service stabilization.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting during critical incidents and outages.
- Ensure compliance with telecom security standards, SLAs, and regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain detailed documentation, diagrams, and stakeholder reporting.
- 12+ years of experience in Network and Network Security engineering.
- Expert‑level hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (mandatory).
- Strong proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, and Forti Gate platforms.
- Deep telecom network background—including MPLS, IPSEC, VRs, routing, and migration experience.
- Proven experience owning and executing complex firewall & VPN migrations.
- Strong troubleshooting ability in carrier‑grade production environments.
- Understanding of telecom‑grade security frameworks and regulatory standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- MOFA‑attested degree (mandatory for UAE roles).
- Experience with Symantec DLP.
- Cloud security or SD‑WAN migration exposure.
- Experience automating security configurations or VPN deployments.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust and advanced perimeter architectures.
Highlight large‑scale migration projects you have personally led—especially those involving Palo Alto VRs, IPSEC tunnels, or telecom‑grade cutovers. Demonstrating real ownership of high‑risk migrations significantly increases your chances for shortlist in senior network security roles.
