What You'll Be Doing

As a Data Engineer
, you will design, build, and operate reliable data pipelines and data products—from solution design through development, testing, deployment, and documentation. This role offers strong ownership and the opportunity to shape how data is produced, transformed, and served across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Design end-to-end technical solutions that deliver data products aligned to business goals
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable delivery tasks
  • Build and maintain robust ingestion pipelines for new data sources (using existing tools where possible and custom approaches when needed)
  • Write clean, performant, secure Python for ETL/ELT, automation, APIs, and data validation
  • Develop and orchestrate workflows using Google Cloud Platform services and related tooling
  • Transform and prepare datasets for analytics and downstream consumption (e.g., marts, curated layers)
  • Improve data warehouse performance through model design and query optimisation, including partitioning and clustering
What You’ll Need To Succeed

Must-have qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines (or equivalent)
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of analytics/dimensional modelling concepts
  • Strong Python skills (ETL/ELT, APIs, data validation, packaging, scripting)
  • Hands-on experience with at least 3 of the following:
  • Big Query or a similar MPP cloud data warehouse
  • Google Cloud Platform or comparable cloud platform (AWS/Azure)
  • Apache Airflow (or managed equivalent)
  • ETL/ELT development and operationalisation
  • BI/DWH concepts and practices
  • Proven experience integrating data from a variety of source types (APIs, databases, files, SaaS, event streams)
  • Experience with data cleansing, validation, and quality controls (tests, checks, anomaly detection)
  • Comfortable with collaborative development: code reviews, Git workflows, and structured releases
  • Demonstrated ability to optimise code and SQL performance to meet demanding analytics needs
  • Working understanding of Dev Ops practices: CI/CD, environment management, configuration management, and agile delivery
  • Nice-to-have
    • Experience with dbt (models, tests, documentation, macros)
    • Familiarity with data lineage/governance tooling (e.g., Data Hub/Open Metadata)
    • Experience with monitoring/observability for pipelines
