Data Governance & Quality Expert

The Data Governance & Quality Expert is responsible for establishing, operating, and continuously improving data governance and data quality practices across the organization. The role focuses on managing data governance tools, monitoring data quality, ensuring the reliability of dashboards and analytics, and working closely with data domain owners and data stewards to enforce governance standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on experience with Azure data governance and data quality tools (including Azure Purview), a solid understanding of analytics ecosystems, and the ability to bridge technical data management with business accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, manage, and operate data governance tools, with a strong focus on Azure Purview.
• Maintain and govern data catalogues, metadata, data lineage, and data classifications across enterprise data platforms.
• Define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and operating procedures.
• Support the implementation of data ownership and stewardship models across data domains.
• Work closely with data domain owners and data stewards to ensure governance responsibilities are clearly defined and executed.
• Identification of PII data, familiar with Data privacy policies and Data sharing, and retention rules

• Define and implement data quality rules, checks, and thresholds across critical datasets.
• Monitor data quality dimensions including accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and validity.
• Track and manage data quality issues, root causes, and remediation actions in collaboration with data engineering and analytics teams.
• Establish ongoing data quality monitoring for core data products and analytical datasets.

• Ensure the quality, consistency, and trustworthiness of dashboards, reports, and analytics outputs.
• Validate that analytics and BI solutions are built on governed, certified, and high‑quality datasets.
• Work with analytics teams to define certified datasets, metrics, and KPIs.
• Support governance controls for semantic models, measures, and business definitions used in reporting.

• Act as a key point of contact for data governance and data quality across business and technical teams.
• Facilitate collaboration between data engineers, analytics teams, domain owners, and stewards.
• Support data literacy and awareness initiatives related to data governance and quality best practices.
• Provide governance and quality reporting to leadership and data governance committees.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 6–8 years of experience in data governance, data quality, or enterprise data management roles.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure data governance tools, especially:
  Azure Purview (data catalog, lineage, classification, policies)
• Experience implementing and operating data quality frameworks and controls across enterprise datasets.
• Strong understanding of analytics ecosystems, including data lakes, data warehouses, BI tools, and dashboards.
• Experience working with data domain owners and data stewards in federated or domain-based governance models.
• Familiarity with data governance concepts such as data ownership, stewardship, certification, and metadata management.
• Ability to assess and assure the quality of dashboards, reports, and analytical outputs.
• Data privacy regulations and standards
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Experience in transportation, fleet management, or large operational environments is a strong asset.
