About the job

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with designing and implementing some projects in the Middle East. As a SAS Platform Administrator, you will work closely with data architects and analysts to implement data modeling solutions to streamline and support enterprise information management.

• Installing and configuring the SAS software suite on servers, kubernetes clusters, and client machines.
• Installing Open Shift on bare metal hosts and virtual machines in connected or air‑gapped environments.
• Configuring the Open Shift cluster including networking, storage, security and authentication.
• Installing Upstream Open Source Kubernetes cluster in connected or air‑gapped environments.
• Configuring Upstream Open Source Kubernetes cluster including networking, storage, security and authentication.
• Deploying Open Data Foundation (ODF) storage in either Open Shift or an Upstream Kubernetes cluster involves integrating persistent storage solutions that can handle the storage needs of applications running in containers.
• Performing routine system maintenance tasks such as applying software updates and patches, monitoring system performance, and optimizing system resources.
• Creating and managing user accounts, roles, and permissions within the SAS environment. This involves granting appropriate access levels to users based on their roles and responsibilities.
• Ensuring the security of the SAS environment by implementing access controls, data encryption, and authentication mechanisms. This involves working with IT security teams to enforce security policies and guidelines.
• Monitoring and optimizing system performance to ensure efficient utilization of hardware resources and optimal response times for SAS applications.
• Implementing backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or data loss.
• Investigating and resolving issues reported by users or detected through system monitoring. This includes analyzing log files, diagnosing problems, and providing technical support to end‑users.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation, system administration guides, and user manuals. Conducting training sessions or workshops to educate users on the effective use of the SAS platform.
• Collaborating with other IT teams, such as database administrators, network administrators, and application developers, to integrate SAS with other systems and ensure smooth data flows.
• Analyzing system usage patterns and forecasting future resource requirements to scale the SAS environment based on business needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant field.
• From 3 to 5 years of proven working experience as a System Administrator.
• ITI certificate in system administration or cyber security.
• Excellent English language, writing and speaking.
• Experience of managing different kinds of databases such as MSSQL Databases, Postgre
  
  SQL, Maria, Mongo
  
  DB and MySQL.
• Strong hands‑on system administration experience with Linux/Windows operating systems (installation, configuration, security, troubleshooting and updates) and IP networking.
• Experience in one or more of the Cloud platforms such as: (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure).
• Hands‑on knowledge in one more of software containerization on platforms like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm and Red Hat Open Shift.
• Good knowledge in one or more Virtualization platforms like Virsh/KVM, Xen and Proxmox.
• Good knowledge of Active Directory (user creation and management).
• Good knowledge of Ansible configuration management.
• Understanding of the software development, testing and system engineering lifecycle & Dev Ops practices.
• Experience and practical hands‑on of download, install, configure, and apply hotfixes on SAS platforms such as: (SAS Viya 3.5, SAS 9.4 and SAS Viya4).
• Knowledge of security, high availability and load balancing like HAproxy, Keepalived.
