The Intelligent Systems and IT Operations Director is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of advanced IT systems and intelligent computing environments to support precision health initiatives at QPHI in Doha, Qatar. The role involves developing and maintaining efficient systems for omics, imaging, and clinical data analysis, ensuring the establishment of secure data pipelines and archiving solutions aligned with Qatar Foundation (QF) and Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) governance standards.
The position oversees the availability, scalability, and performance of high-performance computing (HPC), storage, and cloud/hybrid environments, while ensuring robust information infrastructure to support organizational activities.
The director is accountable for defining and executing AI and cloud computing strategy, providing scientific leadership in artificial intelligence applications in precision health, and identifying, evaluating, and integrating external AI vendors, platforms, and partnerships into research and clinical workflows while ensuring compliance, compatibility, and enforcement of security and privacy controls. The role requires collaboration with the Qatari health system to integrate health data, development of quality-oriented software development processes, and management of bioinformatics systems, customer service platforms, research access platforms, and health informatics solutions.
The position also includes establishing strategic and technical goals, managing IT budgets, overseeing procurement and implementation of sector-specific software and hardware, and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and information security standards such as ISO 27001, HIPAA, FERPA, and PCI DSS. The director is responsible for managing IT operations including networking, telecommunications, user services, IT support, data administration, codification, semantic normalization, and enterprise systems such as HIS, LIMS, and PACS.
Additionally, the role involves stakeholder engagement, partnership development, advocacy within national and international scientific computing communities, and continuous improvement of IT processes to support data quality assurance and emerging technologies in healthcare and research environments.
