Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Insurance Underwriter with strong experience working in insurance brokerage. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of underwriting expertise across Property, Liability, Engineering, Marine, and SME insurance lines. This role involves assessing risks, preparing quotations, supporting the sales team, and ensuring accurate policy issuance while maintaining compliance and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment: Review client submissions, risk details, and supporting documents to determine underwriting requirements.
  • Quotation & Analysis: Prepare and send detailed quote requests for Property, Liability, Engineering, Marine, and SME insurance packages.
  • Sales Support: Assist the sales team by preparing quotations, proposals, and renewal terms.
  • Comparisons & Recommendations: Draft underwriting comparisons and recommendation sheets for internal and client review.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all underwriting documents, proposal forms, KYC, and declarations are accurate and complete.
  • Policy Coordination: Liaise with insurers for policy issuance, endorsements, cancellations, refunds, and premium adjustments.
  • Record Management: Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and portals.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years in General Insurance Underwriting with an insurance broker.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of Property, Liability, Engineering, and Marine policies, including preparing quote slips and policy analysis.
  • Brokerage Background: Prior experience with an insurance broker is essential.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Hands‑on experience in issuing policies via portals.
  • Negotiation

    Skills:

    Ability to negotiate effectively with insurers and clients.
  • Communication: Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
  • Attributes: Accuracy, attention to detail, dependability, and strong teamwork.
  • Leadership Advantage: Experience supervising a team of underwriters is an added benefit.
  • Education: Diploma/Degree in Business, Finance, or Insurance qualifications preferred.
