The Business Acceptance (‘BA’) team is a global team, thus far operating out of the Firm's London, Singapore and Hong Kong offices. As the Firm has grown, so has our need for on‑the‑ground support, especially in the Middle East. We are therefore looking for a Compliance Officer to join our team, based in Dubai. The BA team is led by the Head of Business Acceptance based in London, supported in the same office by an AML and Sanctions Manager, four Senior Compliance Officers and 13 Compliance Officers.
The teams in Hong Kong and Singapore consist of a Business Acceptance Manager, a Senior Compliance Officer, four Compliance Officers and a Compliance Assistant.
- Analysing conflict search results to identify potential regulatory and/or commercial conflicts utilising Intapp Open software and facilitating the resolution of these.
- Managing incoming requests for new client and new matter openings.
- Researching new clients for CDD purposes and advising fee‑earners on obtaining the information and documentation required for this purpose.
- Implementing and maintaining information barriers.
- Conducting sanctions screening.
- Working closely with other business support functions, including IT and Accounts.
- Assisting with the testing of software upgrades linked to the Business Acceptance team, such as the upgrade of Intapp Open.
In addition, there will be a requirement to be available to support the Firm’s Saudi office in line with local working patterns. Please note that this position will have a working pattern of Sunday to Thursday.
Attributes/Skills Required- Proven experience in a business acceptance role is essential, preferably within a law firm environment.
- Solid, demonstrable understanding of AML and conflicts rules applicable in all jurisdictions in which the firm operates.
- Pragmatic, commercial and lateral thinking and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the gravitas to support taking the lead in discussions with partners, fee earners and support staff.
- A team‑first, can‑do attitude and a commitment to doing what it takes to achieve results in a timely, efficient manner.
- Strong research skills and familiarity with widely used vendors such as Orbis, Accuity and equivalents.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a global team.
- Experience of using Intapp Open and Walls.
- Ability to work under time pressure and prioritise effectively to meet multiple deadlines.
- A desire to build on existing knowledge and proactively contribute to changes in team processes and procedures.
