JOB REFERENCE: JB004-26-01518
During routine inspection of the Riviera dream FAHU system, repeated failure of the drive belt was observed, leading to frequent breakdowns and unplanned downtime. The belt exhibited premature wear and breakage even after replacement, negatively impacting equipment reliability and productivity.
Further inspection revealed that the pulley (sheave) surface is severely corroded, with visible rust and pitting along the belt contact grooves. The surface condition is rough and uneven, causing improper belt tracking, abrasion, and uneven wear patterns. Additional contributing factors include possible pulley misalignment and bearing wear.
The primary root cause of the recurring belt failure is the deteriorated pulley surface, which generates excessive friction and localized stress. This results in overheating, accelerated wear, and eventual belt damage. Environmental exposure, inadequate maintenance, and lack of periodic inspection have further contributed to the issue.
Scope of Work- Remove and replace the damaged pulley with a new unit to restore a smooth and uniform contact surface.
- Install a new drive belt after ensuring proper pulley condition.
- Check and correct pulley alignment to ensure accurate belt tracking.
- Inspect pulley bearings and replace if any signs of wear, stiffness, or play are detected.
- Adjust and set belt tension in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct final testing and inspection to ensure proper operation and prevent recurrence of failure.
