Production Planner Position Overview
The Production Planner will be responsible for overseeing and managing the technical aspects of the production planning process. This includes scheduling shop floor personnel, analyzing inventory, estimating costs, and continuously updating product routings. The role also involves clear communication and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure smooth production workflows.
Job Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the production of company products.
- Develop and manage the production plan, detailing each operation’s structure and lead time to meet customer deadlines.
- Optimize resource allocation (manpower, machinery, materials, and methods) to maximize efficiency and mitigate production delays.
- Utilize analytical and mathematical methods to forecast production requirements against customer demand.
- Adjust production schedules as needed based on daily operational changes.
- Identify and resolve production issues by analyzing root causes and implementing process improvements.
- Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure smooth product flow and timely delivery.
- Prepare and present regular production reports to key stakeholders, providing recommendations for efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team on technical aspects of projects.
- Perform regular inventory management in coordination with the Production Supervisor and Storekeeper to achieve KPIs.
- Monitor and manage safety stock levels for semi-finished goods (SFG) and Stock to Order (STO) items to ensure adequate inventory to meet customer and production demands.
- Calculate and update the costs of SFG, STO, and Made to Order (MTO) items to aid in final product cost determination.
- Conduct regular time-motion studies to keep product routings accurate and recommend improvements as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably Industrial Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in production planning, managing multiple projects within the manufacturing sector.
- At least 2 years of hands‑on experience with SAP, with mandatory experience in the PP module. Familiarity with the MM module and SAP GUI Scripting is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with automation knowledge being an added benefit.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- A team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, capable of handling complaints and urgent requests independently.
- Expertise in 4‑dimensional planning (Manpower, Materials, Methods, and Machinery).
- Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles.
