Job Overview
This production role is responsible for leading and controlling end-to-end manufacturing operations for luxury retail furniture and fit‑out projects. The role demands strong leadership, strategic production planning, quality excellence, cost control, and cross‑functional coordination to deliver premium products on time, within budget, and in line with international luxury brand standards.
Key Responsibilities- Production Planning Control – Plan, organize, and control daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules aligned with project delivery timelines. Ensure optimum utilisation of manpower, machinery, materials, and factory capacity. Manage multiple high‑value retail projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines and coordinating closely with Planning, Procurement, Design, and Project teams.
- People, Department Management – Lead and manage a workforce of 300 employees across multiple departments including Joinery, Metal, CNC, Paint, Polishing, Electricals, Acrylic, Printing, and Finishing Assembly. Set departmental targets, monitor productivity, drive performance improvements, identify manpower requirements, support recruitment, training, and skill development, and maintain discipline and motivation.
- Quality Management – Luxury Standards – Ensure all products meet approved samples, drawings, and luxury retail brand quality standards. Implement and monitor robust QA/QC systems at each stage of production to minimise rework, rejection, and customer complaints, and coordinate mock‑ups, first‑article inspections, and client approvals.
- Continuous Improvement – Operational Excellence – Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, production efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Reduce TAT through workflow optimisation, process re‑engineering, and elimination of non‑value‑added activities. Implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and best practice methodologies across departments. Analyse defects, rework, and downtime, conduct RCA, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Standardise SOPs, work instructions, and quality checkpoints.
- Value Engineering – Technical Support – Lead value engineering initiatives to optimise design, materials, and manufacturing processes without compromising luxury aesthetics and performance. Work closely with Design, Engineering, and Procurement teams to propose cost‑effective and manufacturable solutions, evaluate alternative materials, finishes, and construction methods to improve cost and lead time.
- RFI – Pre‑Contract Project Support – Actively participate in RFI processes by providing technical clarifications, production feasibility inputs, and manufacturing recommendations. Support pre‑tender and post‑award stages with production strategies, method statements, mock‑ups, and timelines. Coordinate with Project and Site teams to ensure seamless transition from factory to installation.
- Cost Control – Efficiency Control – Control production costs, material wastage, overtime, and overheads. Monitor KPIs such as productivity, efficiency, yield, machine utilisation, and rejection rates. Drive cost‑saving initiatives while maintaining premium quality standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance – Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies and safe working practices. Maintain machinery upkeep, housekeeping standards, and statutory compliance, and promote a strong safety‑first culture across all departments.
- Reporting – MIS – Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production, manpower, and performance reports. Present production status, risks, and improvement plans to senior management. Track and report KPIs related to quality, delivery, cost, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Competencies – Strong leadership and people management skills; in‑depth knowledge of luxury furniture, joinery, upholstery, metal works, and high‑end finishes; expertise in retail fit‑out project execution; production planning, scheduling, and control; continuous improvement and lean manufacturing; value engineering and cost optimisation; quality management and attention to detail; strong coordination, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Production, Industrial, Manufacturing. Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PMP are an added advantage.
