Job Description

Ensure delivery of patient care through implementation of prescribed medication and monitoring effects.

• Provide nursing care to patients based on established clinical practice standards.
• Record and register patients’ medical information and complete pre‑examination records.
• Prepare the examination room, ensuring a comfortable environment and adequate supplies of materials and equipment.
• Prepare the patient for examination/procedures and provide privacy.
• Ensure that patients and families receive adequate and appropriate information and reassurance, and obtain consent prior to medical and nursing intervention.
• Assist the physician in examining the patient.
• Carry out or facilitate investigations as advised.
• Administer medicine, injections, and hot water bottles.
• Prepare injections and clean up afterward.
• Collect, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify the patient’s condition.
• Perform technical procedures such as dressings, nebulisation, O2 therapy, and preparation and cleanup after procedures.
• Communicate reports and deviations from normal values to the patient and doctor.
• Consult and coordinate with other healthcare team members to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Monitor patients in the observation room and assist with transfers or referrals if required.
• Provide first aid and immunisations as required.
• Deliver care and services according to the scope and standards of nursing practice.
• Evaluate the response to care, treatment, and education, and re‑plan as needed.
• Document care with clarity and accuracy.
• Ensure the safety of patients, self, and co‑workers while in the clinic.
• Act with ethical accountability and legal compliance in all actions.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in all aspects of patient care.
• Prepare for and assist in clinical tests and medical procedures.
• Perform GRBS testing.
• Label and dispatch specimens.
• Escort patients to and from departments such as the front office, laboratory, radiology, insurance, etc.
• Take care of clean and soiled linens.
• Clean and maintain dressing trolleys, cupboards, instruments, and equipment.
• Prepare surgical supplies, bandages, splints, etc.
• Triage patients.
