Registered Nurse - BMT

Bone Marrow Transplant and Apheresis Nurses play a critical role in delivering comprehensive care to patients undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), encompassing all phases pre-transplant, during the procedure, and post-transplant—for both allogeneic and autologous cases as well as oncology and Hematology patients. They are responsible for managing stem cell collection and therapeutic apheresis procedures, ensuring safe and effective execution. These nurses also care for patients with general and specific medical conditions and administer chemotherapy infusions, closely monitoring for and managing side effects associated with stem cell collection, chemotherapy, and infusion therapies.

Their expertise and vigilance are essential to supporting patient recovery and maintaining high standards of clinical care throughout the transplant and apheresis journey.

• Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the Bone marrow transplantation and apheresis patients’ assessment and reassessment.
• Collaborate with Multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized and effective patient care plan.
• Continuously Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate, and manage the clinical and emotional needs of patient undergoing for Bone Marrow Transplant.
• Continuously Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate, and manage the clinical and emotional needs of patient undergoing for Stem cells collection and therapeutic Apheresis.
• Formulate nursing plans, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions and treatments.
• Conduct thorough pre-treatment evaluation of recipients/donor with the provider to determine the optimal Stem cells collection method and best Venous access Strategy.
• Prepare and administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, intravenous) and record prescribed medications.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays.
• Ensure safe handling, and administration of Cytotoxic Drugs as directed by hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Understanding the Bone Marrow or Stem Cell Harvest and its preservation ,and infusion process.
• Ensure safe handling and administration of both Cryopreserved and fresh Stem Cells. as directed by hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Educate patients /donors and families/caregivers regarding all aspects of Bone marrow transplantation/cellular therapy, and apheresis and serve as their Advocate.
• Maintenance and care of Central or Peripheral Lines including Assessing line site and patency regularly, keeping infection control and prevention as a priority.
• Caring of neutropenic patient and understanding the importance of specialized nursing care to neutropenic patients during stem cells transplant process.
• Provide bedside care for a wide variety of Bone marrow transplant patients, including pre- and post- transplant care.
• Assists doctors in the procedures like Bone Marrow Aspiration/ Biopsy, Lumbar Puncture and Intrathecal Chemotherapy administration as directed by policies and procedures.

• UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) And Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
• Hold BLS and ACLS certificate.
• Postgraduate or specialty certification in Oncology/BMT Nursing – preferred.
• Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.
• At least one (1) year experiences in Bone Marrow Transplant Oncology or Haematology nursing, preferred with apheresis experience.
• Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
