Doctor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Veterinary - Pets)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe Doctor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Veterinary) will be responsible for the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and long‑term management of orthopaedic conditions in pets belonging to the Royal Family and in care in the Rehabilitation Facility. The role focuses primarily on domestic animals, delivering the highest standard of veterinary orthopaedic care within a private palace clinic environment.
This position requires an exceptionally skilled, discreet, and compassionate veterinary surgeon capable of working independently while maintaining close collaboration with palace veterinarians, animal carers, and external specialists when required.
Qualifications / Certification / Licenses- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent (mandatory)
- Postgraduate qualification or board certification in Veterinary Orthopaedic Surgery (mandatory)
- Valid professional veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain one in Jordan)
- Continuous professional development in advanced orthopaedic techniques highly regarded
- Minimum 8‑10 years' experience as a Veterinary Surgeon, with a strong focus on orthopaedic surgery for pets
- Extensive hands‑on experience performing complex orthopaedic procedures (fracture repair, joint surgery, ligament repair, corrective surgery)
- Experience working in referral hospitals, specialist clinics, or UHNW / private client environments preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing pre‑operative, surgical, and post‑operative rehabilitation plans
- Advanced knowledge of small‑animal orthopaedic diagnostics and surgical techniques
- High proficiency in anaesthesia protocols and pain management for surgical cases
- Strong understanding of post‑operative rehabilitation and recovery planning
- Ability to assess mobility issues, chronic conditions, and long‑term joint health
- Calm, precise, and methodical approach to surgery and case management
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain procedures and outcomes clearly to non‑medical stakeholders
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
- Diagnose and treat orthopaedic conditions affecting pets within the Royal household
- Perform advanced orthopaedic surgeries to the highest clinical standards
- Develop and oversee post‑operative care, rehabilitation, and recovery programs
- Monitor ongoing mobility, pain management, and long‑term outcomes
- Maintain detailed and confidential medical records for all cases
- Collaborate with palace veterinarians, animal handlers, and support staff
- Advise on preventative orthopaedic care, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments
- Ensure all clinical practices comply with veterinary, safety, and hygiene standards
- Remain available for urgent or emergency orthopaedic cases as required
Full‑time role - 6 days per week
Flexibility required to respond to emergencies or urgent surgical needs
