Responsibilities
- Recommend and serve wines to guests, ensuring proper presentation and pairing with menu items
- Maintain accurate inventory of wines and update wine lists as required
- Ensure compliance with proper storage standards, hygiene, and hotel policies for wine service
- Monitor wine stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to the supervisor or manager
- Assist in organizing wine tastings and promotional events for guests
- Handle guest queries regarding wine selection and provide professional advice
- Maintain records of wine sales and contribute to achieving upselling targets
- Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless food and wine pairing
- Support in training service staff on wine knowledge and proper serving techniques
- Stay updated on wine trends, regions, and vintages to enhance guest experience
- Diploma or certification in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or specialized wine studies (e.g., WSET Level 2 or equivalent)
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in wine service or as a waiter with strong wine knowledge
- Good understanding of wine regions, varietals, and food pairing principles
- Excellent communication and guest interaction skills with a passion for wine
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain high service standards in a luxury environment
