Your Contribution to Our GrowthWe’re seeking two Senior Software Developers to join our Global Payments engineering team in Dubai. This is a brand-new function supporting Aquanow’s global expansion, working alongside our Tech Lead to build the next generation of our payments platform.
This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who thrives in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance payment systems. You’ll build and enhance our payment orchestration layer, integrate with multiple payment service providers (PSPs) globally, and contribute to the reliability, observability, and scalability of our platform.
You’ll play a key role in developing our new global payments product which is designed to enable cross-border transfers using digital assets while connecting to multiple payment providers worldwide. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges, thrives in a fast‑moving fintech environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact in building new global financial infrastructure.
This is a Full‑Time, Permanent position working Hybrid out of our Dubai office.
What You’ll Do- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑availability backend services and APIs using Node.js and Type Script, and Java.
- Collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver robust payment workflows and integrations.
- Work on core components of our Payments product, including external PSP connectivity, routing logic, and transaction reconciliation.
- Contribute to architectural discussions to ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and system security.
- Implement best practices for coding, testing, and deployment in a cloud‑native environment.
- Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring high‑quality standards and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in payments and backend systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in backend development in production environments.
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and Type Script.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Java (preferably with Spring Boot).
- 3+ years of experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, Rabbit
MQ, or Event Hub. - Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs and event‑driven systems.
- Solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with SQL and No
SQL databases. - Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments.
- Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and performance optimization skills.
- Prior experience in Payments or Fintech domains — particularly with external PSP integrations, FX, or settlement systems.
- Familiarity with AWS services and Dev Ops tooling.
- Experience working in a regulated financial environment.
- Exposure to real‑time data processing and distributed systems design.
