We are looking for a senior database engineer for a well-established electronic payments provider. The ideal candidate must possess 5+ years’ hands‑on, strong experience in transactional database management, with a minimum of 3 years working on high‑performance enterprise applications, using Azure SQL/ SQL Server related technologies.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating all database activities. This includes deploying scripts, database performance tuning, monitoring, backup/recovery, designing/creating databases, resolving complex data‑related problems, optimizing performance, and monitoring all database related work orders in a timely manner.
The candidate must be a team player and have experience in teamwork but must be able to demonstrate skills required in the end‑to‑end development process. If required he/ she must be able to start from high level requirements of the individual units, convert them into proper workable units, and document the activities.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for the overall performance, backup, and recovery
- Review and deploy scripts written by software engineering teams
- Diagnose and resolve production problems within defined SLAs
- Proactive maintenance and monitoring of all the DB instances
- Work closely with other IT team members to successfully maintain and monitor all the DB instances
- Assist in creating documented processes and procedures to solve complex problems
- Work closely with R&D to identify any possible performance bottlenecks
- Recommend and provide guidance regarding database development, T‑SQL best practices, and development standards to the software engineering team members as needed. This includes but is not limited to helping with T‑SQL code and performance tuning.

Qualifications Required
- Experience with analyzing SQL Server performance issues
- Previous work with ecommerce and payment related technologies and knowledge of No
SQL technologies. (Mongo DB) will be a huge advantage. - Knowledge of database administration and data management lifecycle to analyze complex issues and implement appropriate solutions and optimize processes
- Knowledge of major cloud Azure SQL Server advanced features and Performance enhancements (In‑Memory OLTP, Lock Priorities, Buffer Pool Extensions, etc.)
- Experience writing Power Shell scripts
- Experience with advanced query design, stored procedures, views, and functions
- Experience with optimal index design and T‑SQL performance tuning techniques
- Knowledge of cloud version of SQL Server (e.g. Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL)
- 5+ years of experience in database engineering/ administration in enterprise environments
- Problem solving and strong drive to deliver results

- Team player with strong communication skills
- Familiarity with Agile principles and Scrum methodologies
- Experience working in Dev Ops/ Site Reliability Engineering environments
