About the SquadThe Customer Applications squad owns the systems that shape how customers interact with Lulu after signing up—from identity and authentication to account management, order tracking, and refunds. We build the services that earn and maintain customer trust. Our work directly impacts retention, satisfaction, and lifetime value.
What You’ll Work On- Design and build Identity Services including authentication, authorization, session management, and SSO integrations using OAuth
2.0 and JWT. - Develop and maintain account management APIs covering profile updates, preferences, address book, and communication settings.
- Build real‑time order tracking services that aggregate status updates from warehouse, transport, and delivery systems into a unified customer view.
- Architect the refunds platform handling return eligibility, refund calculations, payment reversals, and wallet credits across multiple payment methods.
- Implement secure, performant APIs that protect customer PII while enabling personalized experiences.
- Drive cross‑team coordination to ensure order lifecycle events flow seamlessly from checkout through delivery to post‑order support.
- Maintain strong observability with structured logging, customer journey tracing, and alerting on degraded experiences.
Own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals on the team, independently identifying the right solutions to solve ambiguous, open‑ended problems. Deliver your team’s goals on time and with a high standard of quality, ensuring your work has the greatest customer impact. Make informed decisions by consulting the right stakeholders and balancing details with the big picture, executing against the spirit of requirements.

Decompose business problems into solutions with multiple interacting components, designing software that is testable, debuggable, and not easily misused. Write code that captures the essential nature of the solution—flexible, reusable, efficient, and adaptable to changing requirements. Ensure high code quality in reviews, set up best practices and coding standards, and foster an effective code review culture. Independently resolve bugs and system issues during on‑call, and proactively reduce toil and tech debt.

Contribute to interviewing and assessing candidates with advanced domain‑specific and leveling interviews.
Must‑Have Qualifications- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language:
Python, Java, or Node.js. - Hands‑on experience designing and building microservices and RESTful/Graph
QL APIs. - Solid experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) including managed services, deployments, and monitoring.
- Working knowledge of containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or similar) and automated testing.
- Strong understanding of relational databases (Postgre
SQL, MySQL) including query optimization and schema design. - Experience with message brokers / event‑driven architectures (Kafka, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub, or Rabbit
MQ). - Familiarity with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and CDN concepts.
