Overview

The purpose of this position is to support the Planning Manager by planning and scheduling mileage‑based maintenance activities for the rolling stock, through analysis of work order projections from the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and coordination with Operations Planning and Maintenance stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities Strategic

Support the Planning Manager to deliver Rolling stock fleet maintenance planning & contribute with process improvements.

Financial
  • Support efficient fleet utilisation by enabling timely mileage‑based maintenance planning and reducing unplanned vehicle downtime.
  • Contribute to cost awareness by highlighting planning risks that may lead to inefficient fleet usage or maintenance disruptions.
Stakeholder / Customer
  • Work closely with Rolling Stock Maintenance Teams to align fleet plans with maintenance readiness and workshop capacity.
  • Coordinate with Operations Planners and OCC team to manage mileage accumulation through timetable planning and fleet deployment.
  • Coordinate between workshop managers, operational planners & rolling stock discipline managers to ensure effective fleet maintenance planning.
  • Liaise with Planning and Maintenance stakeholders to provide visibility of upcoming fleet maintenance requirements and constraints.
  • Provide planning data, schedules, and analysis to support maintenance decision‑making and tracking.
Operational
  • Extract and analyse mileage‑based maintenance work order projections from the MMS to support fleet maintenance planning.
  • Monitor rolling stock mileage accumulation against maintenance thresholds defined in approved job plans.
  • Prepare fleet maintenance forecasts identifying upcoming mileage‑based maintenance events and workshop requirements.
  • Coordinate with Operations Planning and OCC team to ensure train allocation and timetables support targeted average mileage accumulation.
  • Flag rolling stock units approaching defined mileage limits and coordinate with Rolling Stock and Maintenance stakeholders for timely workshop induction.
  • Support the scheduling of rolling stock into maintenance facilities by ensuring alignment between mileage requirements, operational availability, and workshop capacity.
  • Maintain and update Excel‑based fleet planning tools, mileage trackers, dashboards, and reports during the manual planning phase.
  • Review fleet utilisation trends and highlight risks related to over‑mileage, under‑utilisation, or planning conflicts.
  • Implement structured, data‑driven fleet planning processes, initially through manual (Excel‑based) planning, with transition to system‑managed fleet planning tools in future.
  • Support re‑planning activities due to operational changes, service variations, or unplanned rolling stock substitutions.
  • Ensure fleet planning activities are aligned with approved maintenance strategies and plans.
Capability / People
  • Apply structured fleet and mileage‑based planning principles to support safe and reliable rolling stock maintenance.
  • Develop strong working knowledge of MMS mileage data, work order triggers, and rolling stock job plans.
  • Demonstrate disciplined use of planning tools and data to support repeatable and auditable fleet planning processes.
  • Support continuous improvement of fleet planning methodologies and data accuracy.
  • Support a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Fleet maintenance planning function.
Minimum Qualifications Education
  • Engineering Graduate in either Electrical, Civil, Electronics & Communications, Transportation/Automobile, Mechanical Engineering with understanding of Metro systems.
  • Bachelors in engineering discipline (B-Tech/BE)
Experience
  • 2 or more years of relevant work experience in engineering works management, maintenance, planning & scheduling.
  • MMS workorder management.
  • Working knowledge of the MMS system.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling work orders and assigning of site works.
  • Resource coordination and rostering.
  • Rolling stock maintenance.
Skills / Training
  • MMS, WO management, Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of any other languages will be added advantage.
