As an Safety Engineer at Dufour Aerospace AG, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability activities of our unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). You will work closely with engineering, operations, teams to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement safety measures throughout the UAS lifecycle—from design and development to testing, certification, and operational deployment
Tasks- Conduct and document structured safety assessments, hazard analyses, and risk mitigation for UAS platforms and subsystems.
- Lead system safety assessment activities (e.g. FHA, FTA, FMEA) at UAS-, system-, hardware-, and software-level.
- Identify and document safety-critical functions and failure modes; propose and track corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and assist them in developing safety risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and analyse operational safety data, incident reports, and recommend improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, sSystems eEngineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in functional and systems safety, preferably in an aerospace environment (UAS experience is a plus).
- Experience in the unmanned, autonomous aircraft or vehicle industry is an asset
- Strong knowledge of aviation safety standards (e.g., ARP
4754, ARP
4761, ED-280,) and UAS regulations (EU 2019/947, SC Light-UAS, FAA Part 135) - Demonstrable experience with safety analysis methodologies (e.g., FHA, FMEA, FTA) and safety engineering tools
