This is a onsite position requiring regular in-office presence at Camp Parks, CA.
ABOUT THE JOBThe Tepa Companies are seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to work in a team conducting a wide variety of environmental compliance projects as they relate to hazardous material management, hazardous waste management, air quality, storage tank management, Pollution Prevention, and stormwater monitoring and sampling activities. This role prepares and submits environmental permits, inventories and updates air quality databases, audits and inspects facilities for compliance with hazardous materials and waste regulations, monitors and audits construction sites for compliance with regulations and best management practices, reviews and updates facility environmental plans including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans;
Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans;
Integrated Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Plans; solid waste plans and refrigerant management plans.
Job Functions:
- Properly prioritizing and executing activities and workflow to meet established program goals and objectives.
- Planning and scheduling activities to meet mission requirements.
- Advising military installations on compliance with state, local, and federal environmental regulations.
- Meeting due dates for deliverables.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients.
- Managing and organizing environmental compliance, auditing, and due diligence projects.
- Communicating effectively and appropriately with military personnel and contractors.
- Performing services safely.
- Meeting quality standards specified for the position.
- Meeting security requirements:
This position is at a military installation. Candidate must be able to pass a Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiry conducted by the client and meet Department of Defense entrance clearances. Current registration and insurance are required if driving onto the base.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- Minimum 1-5 years previous related environmental compliance experience
- Proficient in understanding and evaluating compliance with Federal and State regulations, such as the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, and Department of Defense Environmental Policies and Procedures
- Ability to work both independently and in team/collaborative settings
- Ability to work in a very structured military environment and understand the military chain of command
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of personnel
- Environmental Compliance Auditing on DoD installations;
Preferred - Department of Defense operations familiarity a plus
- Database manipulation and GIS skills a plus
- Excellent writing and communication skills, ability to lead and mentor other employees
