About the Job
Must be a United States citizen and eligible to work on federally funded projects.
Must be eligible and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance (i.e., pass a federal background check), as well as complete the necessary processes to receive a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE /
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, not required.
- Minimum of 6 years of combined professional experience in electrical design and construction management.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, HVAC controls, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IBC, OSHA, and other applicable codes; prior VA design/construction experience preferred.
- Proven ability to review and interpret construction documents, including specifications, drawings, scopes of work, RFIs, and change orders.
- Experience managing construction schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and documentation skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support planning, design, and construction phases for VA electrical infrastructure projects.
- Review designs, submittals, and RFIs for compliance with VA standards and building codes.
- Oversee and coordinate construction activities, ensuring project scope, budget, and schedule are met.
- Conduct site inspections, monitor contractor performance, and track non-conforming work with corrective actions.
- Participate in project meetings with VA stakeholders, contractors, and engineers; maintain detailed records and reports.
- Provide input on constructability, safety, phasing, and utility coordination to minimize facility disruptions.
- Assist in managing change orders, payment applications, and project closeout documentation.
- Oversee third‑party testing and inspections (soils, concrete, electrical systems, life safety, etc.) for quality assurance.
