Responsibilities- Work closely with primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to patients
- Assist with a wide range of tasks, including scheduling appointments, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for exams
- Provide immunizations, take vitals, room patients, and perform clinical/clerical duties
- Prepare patients for physician visits, perform tests, and file appropriate documents
- Receive and direct phone calls, obtain patient information, and ensure all forms and consents are completed
- Assist physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and exams; perform routine specimen collection and tests
- Deliver quality customer service and maintain established quality control standards
- Check out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services
- Set up EKG machines and other ancillary tests, administer injections and medications
- Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies
- Manage messages, prior authorizations, and patient calls
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current Medical Assistant Certification is required (credentialing body exam: AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or RMA)
- Medical Assistant Level-1 applicants with >5 years of experience may be considered without certification, though career ladder opportunities will be limited
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via AHA
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and external parties in a courteous and friendly manner
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care and examination procedures, and medical practices
- Firm grasp of administrative processes, organizational policies, and documentation requirements
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times and exhibit compassion and professionalism
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work quickly and efficiently to assure patient comfort and satisfaction
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word)
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and report to work on schedule
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Proficiency with fine motor skills to operate office equipment and machinery
- Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
- Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
- Ability to travel to multiple locations to support business needs as required
