Position Summary

Operates two or more production machines using blueprints, sketches, and route sheets. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Works with general guidance in a team environment.

Essential Functions
  • Sets up and runs production machines; performs machine operations—including cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming—based on pre‑planned materials and tooling.
  • Reworks parts as needed, making necessary machine adjustments and reporting improper functioning or cutting action.
  • Performs operations such as tapping, spot‑facing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring to close tolerances.
  • Aligns and fastens parts using standard fixtures and established methods.
  • Adjusts feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to meet quality specifications.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, or other irregularities; performs burring operations on general production parts.
  • Inspects parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, gauges, and comparators; visually inspects for burrs and damaged surfaces.
  • Maintains equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability per division requirements.
  • Accurately performs all statistical process control (SPC) duties specific to the division.
  • Participates in lean initiatives, identifying and suggesting improvements and applying lean concepts and tools.
  • Observes all company policies, safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as requested.
Job Requirements
  • Two years related machining experience.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Experience applying lean initiatives.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interprets reports and uses job‑specific software applications; ability to use employee self‑service systems and specialized automated systems.
  • Demonstrates team‑member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self‑development activities.
Typical Mental and Physical Demands

Requires walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods; manual dexterity and hand use to operate machinery; close vision; regular attendance; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
