Position: Assembler/Tester A - 2nd shift - Military Flight Controls Division

Position Summary

Assembler/Tester A – 2nd shift – Military Flight Controls Division. Responsibilities include accurate and efficient assembly and testing of moderately complex products to meet customer quality and on‑time delivery schedules, with responsibilities covering lock wiring, first stage subassembly, and final detailing functions, utilizing mechanical components, hydraulic systems, and multiple part numbers. Actively contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Receives general supervisory guidance.

Essential Functions
  • Performs moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Records test results on data forms using moderately complex electrical equipment and flow measurement devices; may use X‑Y recorders, oscilloscopes, transducers and other related equipment.
  • Identifies malfunctions disclosed by test data and reworks as instructed.
  • Interprets blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, service bulletins, customer requirements and quality directives.
  • Produces and inspects assemblies that conform to product specifications; assembles, tests, and/or solder as required to customer and/or industry standards.
  • Actively participates in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
  • May assist in training less experienced team members.
  • Observes all safety rules and maintains a foreign‑object‑damage (FOD) free work area.
  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated in accordance with the calibration schedule.
  • May perform other related responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Two or more years of industry‑related experience in assembly/test in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated product and process knowledge, applying it to newly learned techniques.
  • Ability to select appropriate procedures, techniques, tools and equipment.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints, route sheets and test specifications; performs basic mathematical calculations and demonstrates effective verbal, written and basic computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical reasoning.
  • Ability to implement and effectively apply lean initiatives.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret reports and use standard business software applications, including e‑mail and specialized automated systems.
  • May require soldering certification per customer requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate team‑member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback and self‑development activities.
Education and Experience
  • High‑school diploma or GED required; additional training or degree preferred.
  • Two years or more of relevant experience.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of customer service administration policies and practices, FAA regulations (including government procurement where applicable), general knowledge of Parker products and manufacturing, inspection and repair processes, and continuous improvement methods.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands

The employee must sit most of the time, occasionally stand and walk, and frequently use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. Requires close vision, regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and the public, and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
