Position Details:

• Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for predictability
• Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff
• Ongoing investment in equipment and patient positioning to support safety and workflow in the Operating Room
• Rounding with unit leaders and charge nurses to incorporate feedback on patient care and surgical workflow
• On-call is required during select non-business hours

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Educate patients and families about the procedure and peri-operative process
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification processes (briefing, time-out, debriefing, universal protocols)
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement
• Work as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, technical skills and leadership to deliver safe care
• Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes throughout the shift
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment and follow-up

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment
• RN (Registered Nurse) license
• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma
