The Surgical Tech - Obstetrics position with Ohio Health is a part‑time role scheduled for 11:00 pm–7:00 am. The primary responsibilities include preparing the operating room, gathering supplies, maintaining sterile fields, and assisting the surgeon during obstetric and related surgical procedures.
Job Description SummaryPart‑time; 11:00 pm–7:00 am. The Surgical Technologist will prepare the room, gather supplies, deliver instruments, and provide assistance during procedures.
h3>Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies, equipment and instruments, reviewing surgeon’s preferences.
- Establish and maintain sterile field; present instruments to operating team.
- Act as second assistant; perform duties related to draping, operative site exposure, patient positioning and specimen handling.
- Assist with medication preparation on the sterile field under RN verification.
- Assist with collection and disposal of sharps; conduct post‑operative decontamination of room, supplies and instruments.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, restocking, and reporting damaged items.
- Participate in unit operations, training, and orientation of new staff.
- Perform tasks within legal scope: cannot inject, set up IVs, suture, operate cautery, or complete documentation.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS certification.
- Basic life support certification – American Heart Association.
- Graduate from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school preferred, or equivalent military training, or 10+ years’ experience.
- Understanding of procedures; ability to anticipate surgeon’s needs.
- Strong clinical knowledge of OR environment.
