The Surgical Tech - Obstetrics position with Ohio Health is a part‑time role scheduled for 11:00 pm–7:00 am. The primary responsibilities include preparing the operating room, gathering supplies, maintaining sterile fields, and assisting the surgeon during obstetric and related surgical procedures.

Job Description Summary

Part‑time; 11:00 pm–7:00 am. The Surgical Technologist will prepare the room, gather supplies, deliver instruments, and provide assistance during procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies, equipment and instruments, reviewing surgeon’s preferences.
  • Establish and maintain sterile field; present instruments to operating team.
  • Act as second assistant; perform duties related to draping, operative site exposure, patient positioning and specimen handling.
  • Assist with medication preparation on the sterile field under RN verification.
  • Assist with collection and disposal of sharps; conduct post‑operative decontamination of room, supplies and instruments.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, restocking, and reporting damaged items.
  • Participate in unit operations, training, and orientation of new staff.
  • Perform tasks within legal scope: cannot inject, set up IVs, suture, operate cautery, or complete documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic life support certification – American Heart Association.
Additional Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school preferred, or equivalent military training, or 10+ years’ experience.
  • Understanding of procedures; ability to anticipate surgeon’s needs.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of OR environment.
