The Opportunity- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Home Sleep Test (HST) devices, advising ordering providers on the appropriate device for each patient.
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and prior authorization for HST devices prior to dispensing.
- Schedule patients for device pick-up, fitting, and activation, and provide clear at-home use instructions.
- Maintain HST device inventory, disinfection, calibration, and readiness for redeployment
- Track and reconcile HST device inventory and equipment logs to ensure accurate DME billing and payer compliance.
- Provide patient education on device use, sensor placement, and troubleshooting prior to the testing night.
- Provide evening/after-hours support to patients experiencing device issues during testing, including phone-based troubleshooting.
- Retrieve devices from patients upon test completion and verify adequate data capture.
- Download completed studies and score home sleep testing results per AASM scoring guidelines for provider interpretation.
- Identify inadequate or failed studies and coordinate repeat testing with the ordering provider.
- Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation of device issuance, patient contact, and scoring status.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection prevention, and AASM home sleep testing standards.
- Coordinate with providers, billing, and DME vendors on device- and coverage-related issues.
- Participate in quality assurance audits and performance improvement initiatives for the HST program.
- Escalate complex device, safety, or patient-care issues to the Manager, HST or Sleep Medical Director as appropriate
- High school diploma or equivalent Required.
- One year of nursing, home health, sleep medicine, or related clinical experience preferred
- RPSGT, CPSGT, or equivalent sleep-specific credential Preferred.
- Experience scoring home sleep test data for physician interpretation Preferred.
- Athena or comparable EMR experience, including DME and insurance authorization workflows Preferred.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and clinical judgment to identify home sleep test device issues, inadequate studies, or patient safety concerns requiring escalation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients regarding device use, at-home testing instructions, and troubleshooting, including during evening/after-hours support.
