Summary
The Area Manager is responsible for the performance, leadership, and operational success of multiple collision repair centers within an assigned territory. This role directly oversees General Managers and their teams, ensuring consistent execution of company goals, operational standards, and exceptional customer service.
Location RequirementsYou will need to be based within an hour of Columbus, OH and be open to almost daily travel throughout Central Ohio (Columbus, Marysville, Marion, Mansfield, Chillicothe, etc.).
Compensation OverviewThis role offers a competitive base salary between $120,000 and $140,000
, with a performance-based bonus structure that brings total earnings potential into the $170,000s
.
Ideal candidates will have proven experience managing multiple collision repair body shop locations, with a strong track record of operational leadership and team development across sites.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Provide direct leadership and day-to-day oversight to General Managers and shop leadership within the assigned area.
- Set clear expectations and hold GMs accountable for achieving KPI targets, maintaining compliance, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor performance, provide coaching, and reinforce operational consistency across all locations.
- Lead performance management efforts, including coaching, performance improvement plans, and recognition of high performers.
- Own talent development and succession planning within the area by mentoring GMs, identifying future leaders, and supporting career growth.
- Ensure timely and effective onboarding and training for new managers and team members.
- Collaborate with Regional Manager on broader strategic initiatives while maintaining autonomy and responsibility for the area’s success.
- Identify systemic and shop‑specific operational challenges and develop action plans for resolution.
- Support integration of newly acquired centers and ensure they align with company standards and culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local clients, dealerships, and key market partners.
- Promote and enforce safety practices and regulatory compliance across all locations.
- Participate in budget planning, forecasting, and cost management at the shop level in partnership with the Regional Manager.
- High school diploma or a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- 3 years of proven experience in multi-unit operations or field leadership within the collision repair, automotive, or related service industry.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent understanding of KPIs, operational processes, and customer satisfaction drivers.
- Ability to travel regularly within the assigned area (75%+).
- Clear communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Comfortable managing both strategic planning and hands‑on operational support.
