Childcare Assistant
Join the Mercy One Family! We are looking to hire a Childcare Assistant. As a Childcare Assistant at Mercy One, you will assist the Teacher in the care of children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 9 years. Programs are designed around the developmental needs of children.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in caring for children ages 6 weeks-9 years.
- Carry out planned activities and provide a safe environment.
- Supervise children, ensuring physical safety, and identify and correct potential risks.
- Create an engaging and challenging environment for children.
- Participate in parent and peer communication as needed.
- Use positive reinforcement and redirection as behavior modification techniques.
- Maintain knowledge of early childhood education and best practices.
- Complete incident reports and compliance documentation.
- Adheres to Mercy One’s Model of Caring and Trinity Health’s Code of Conduct.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and organizational integrity programs.
- Performs duties consistent with the purpose of the job as directed.
- Demonstrates patient, customer‑focused behaviors, including privacy, communication skills, and professionalism.
- Assists and carries out planned activities as necessary.
- Recognizes and meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of children.
- Exhibits a warm, loving, respectful caring attitude and disciplines in accordance with the Center's guide.
- Supervises children, provides for physical safety, identifies hazards, and completes incident reports.
- Creates an interesting and challenging environment for children.
- Willing to discuss and resolve problems with peers and parents.
- Demonstrates knowledge of positive reinforcement and redirection.
- Seeks continuing education in areas beneficial to the department and personal growth.
- Strives for individual performance excellence to help the department achieve its goals.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must earn State Mandatory hours of continuing education in Early Childhood Education per year.
- Must meet all mandatory education and training requirements within specified time frames.
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- One to two years of previous work experience with children and/or schooling in Early Childhood Education highly desirable.
