Mercy One operates two hospital‑based skilled nursing units and a 40‑bed nursing home.
- Assist in providing high quality and appropriate food service to meet the nutritional requirements of all age groups from infants to the elderly.
- Participate in positive communication, confidentiality and professional behaviour.
- Assist in preparing patient/resident trays/meals, having the station set up and/or menu items prepared according to guidelines and serving accurately.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for food service and cleaning of equipment; use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
- Clean station, prepare dishes and utensils for washing, properly store after washing; clean dish machine and/or pot and pan area per procedure.
- Perform a variety of cleaning‑related duties in the dish room.
- Rotating schedule; weekend and holiday rotation.
- Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment to foster a positive public image for Mercy One Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center.
- Know and adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (i.e. HIPAA, etc.).
- Ability to read, speak and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Perform simple calculations.
- Manual dexterity and motor coordination required to operate food service equipment, dish machine, pot/pan machine and serve foods on trayline and/or in Senior Care.
- Effective communication skills.
- Maintain a cordial and courteous attitude in contacts with co‑workers, Mercy One staff, patients/residents and guests.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
