Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, providing a vital lifesaving link to rural communities through ambulance and emergency services.
The emergency department is staffed 24/7 with board certified physicians and advanced level practitioners and is certified as a Level IV Trauma Center. The operating room Registered Nurse provides perioperative patient care in the intraoperative phase, in both the scrub and circulating roles, for patients from neonate to geriatric, in accordance with established guidelines.
- Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
- Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other OR team members.
- Maintains a safe environment by applying aseptic technique and managing environmental factors.
- Collects and analyzes data and assesses patients to develop nursing diagnoses.
- Communicates effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and families.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and function.
- Initiates and directs room cleanup and turnover.
- 40 hours per week
- Day shift; hours will vary
- No call, weekends or holidays
- Current or compact state RN license issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
- Operating Room experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) weeks of hire.
- Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation with coworkers, patients and visitors; perform function under hospital stress.
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and to change tasks without loss of composure or efficiency.
- Ability to work under strict adherence to procedures and guidelines; perform under stress in emergency or unusual situations.
- Ability to work independently when appropriate and take direction as needed.
- Ability to interact with diverse populations and influence opinions when needed.
- Ability to make generalizations and decisions based on measurable criteria and to deal with people beyond instructions.
- Ability to accept responsibility for direction, control or planning of activities.
