Second in Science

An ambitious and rapidly improving secondary school in the West Midlands is seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated Second in Science. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in January 2026, ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their leadership journey within a supportive and forward-thinking science department.

• Science Teacher with TLR (2nd in Department)
• Full-time, permanent role starting January 2026
• Teach Science at KS3 and KS4 – leadership responsibility included
• TLR allowance available in addition to MPS/UPS salary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to take on additional departmental responsibility and make a meaningful impact on teaching and learning. You’ll work closely with a Curriculum Leader and Trust-wide subject specialists, contributing to whole-school progress and subject development.

• Support the leadership and development of the Science department
• Lead by example in curriculum planning, teaching and assessment
• Ensure high standards of progress and outcomes for all students
• Champion teaching and learning innovations and departmental improvement

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and strong subject knowledge in Science
• Experience teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
• Proven track record of securing good or outstanding student outcomes
• Previous leadership or responsibility role is desirable but not essential
• Strong awareness of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies
